WebLeast favourite probably goes to either Whispers or Sword/Valor. Whispers would be great in the right campaign but if you're not specifically in that campaign your subclass ability uses are going to be few and far between. Swords and Valor trick players into think a bard can play as a gish when they really can't. WebJan 20, 2024 · Considering the Bard class is generally built for support, Valor does a better job of synergizing with the rest of the class abilities than Swords. Swords gives the Bard a little bit of martial ability, but I would consider it something like a 1/3rd martial subclass. So Valor does a better job at being a Bard in general than Swords does.

The 14th level ability is really good for both colleges. Swords can use flourishes without spending dice, leaving dice for bigger effects or buffing.
